Our last outing up to Carpenter Peak was great! We saw a big buck in the morning grazing near the trail on the way up. At the top of the mountain we enjoyed a lunch together and watched the brown cloud over the Denver skyline.
It was only an hour an a half to the top of Carpenter Peak. The weather was perfect and the fellowship extra-special.

Evergreen hike
Our hike up to Evergreen Mountain was great. Once again the weather cooperated and we were blessed with great fellowship and happy trails.
At the top we enjoyed this great view of Mt. Evans. While we competed with a few mountain bikers on the trail, they were all polite and courteous. One more nice hike for 2010.

Leadville Bike Ride
We did actually go bike riding in Leadville. We just stopped at this mining car for a group photo. The ride took us several miles around the small town, through the woods, and gradually up higher for some spectacular fall views.
About half way through the ride some of us stopped to get a photo of Leadville, behind us and get a drink of water. What a great ride. I hope we do this one again!
We caught the aspen trees changing color at just the right time! Everywhere you looked it was gold, yellow and even some bright rust colors. Notice the sky too... it was like this all day. After the ride we all met at a small diner for lunch and enjoyed more fellowship together.

Sunrise
One morning I was waiting in the church parking lot for the rest of the group to arrive, enjoying my Starbucks and thinking about the hike for the day. And there it was, this beautiful sunrise.
It reminded me of the words of Clement of Alexandra who said; "Jesus Christ, by coming into this world, has changed the sunsets of time into the sunrises of eternity." Everything on earth and in God's plan is aimed at eternity, and it begins here on earth.

Sky Pond
Sky Pond was a terrific hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. We parked our cars near the Bear Lake trail head with all the other tourists and took the shuttle up to the trail head. We started hiking and very soon the trail we wanted took us away from the crowds and deep into the beautiful park.
During our hike we saw a cow elk standing by the lower lake. At the lake we enjoyed a nice quiet lunch and watched the climbers going up Petit Grepon and the Sabre.
